Luxury & Convenience
Styling
Exterior
The bold Acura-family grille begins a theme of sharp edges and contemporary shapes that continues around the vehicle’s exterior, conveying a sporty, sophisticated design.
- Flared fenders over each wheel provide a muscular stance.
- Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, a front chin spoiler, and large air inlets contribute to an aggressive appearance.
- Subtle details, such as thin A-pillars, integrated side-mirror signal lights, dual exhaust outlets and elegant chrome accents exude an aura of luxury.
Interior
The TSX continues its long-held reputation of providing elegant, yet functional, interiors. The look is modern and sophisticated, and everything has been designed to enhance the art of driving.
- Metallic-finish trim sweeps from the doors to either side of the center console, defining a dual-cockpit design.
- The center control panel extends forward to keep everything well within arm’s length.
- A three-dimensional treatment to the gauge cluster makes for easy readability.
- Floating needles on the gauges enable additional information to be displayed in the gauge centers
Build Quality
The TSX is a testament to superior craftsmanship. This is readily apparent in the tightness of the body seams, the meticulously clean edges, and the way the taillights line up perfectly on both sides of the trunk lid seam. The same attention to detail extends to the areas you can’t readily see. Tight tolerances in the fitting of suspension, steering and drivetrain contribute to a feeling of solidity that will last throughout your years of ownership.
Cabin
Front Seats
Every TSX comes equipped with sumptuous, soft, perforated leather seats that provide the ideal balance of indulgence and support.
- Dual-level heated seats enhance the dual-zone, dual-mode automatic climate control system for added comfort on cold days.
- The driver will find just the right seating position with an 8-way power seat with adjustable lumbar support, and the front passenger has a 4-way power adjustment.
- Perforated seating surfaces breathe to provide long-term comfort in hot weather.
- Deep side bolsters secure you on curves, while the seatbacks support the contours of your back for long-term comfort.
Rear Seats
With its opulent rear seats and generous rear passenger room, the TSX is the epitome of comfort.
- Rear seats have the same soft, perforated leather as the front seats.
- Rear seat room is outstanding for its class, with impressive leg and headroom for passengers over six feet tall.
- The Acura/ELS Surround® Sound System on the Technology Package has strategically placed speakers to give rear passengers the surround sound audio effect enjoyed by front passengers.
Storage
Cabin Storage
To help keep the cabin uncluttered, the TSX is fitted with 13 storage spaces, in addition to several beverage holders. At least six storage spaces are within easy reach of the driver, including:
- A center-covered storage bin, which contains a USB7 port, auxiliary audio input and 12-volt power source.
- A driver’s door bin
- An enclosed change tray
- A covered center console compartment
- An overhead sunglasses case
- A cubbyhole on the side of the front center console
Rear passengers enjoy:
- Dual beverage holders
- Bottle holders in the door panels

Cargo Storage
The wedge shape of the TSX body allows for a generous 12.6 cu.ft. trunk, which can be expanded by dropping the rear seatbacks.
- The 60/40 rear seatbacks can be lowered from the trunk area via easy-to-reach releases.
- Minimal side intrusions and hinges that retreat into the lining allow for a large amount of usable storage space.
- The trunk opening is low and wide for easy loading and unloading.
Climate Control
Automatic Climate Control
The TSX dual-zone, dual-mode automatic climate control system allows the driver and front passenger to create their own microclimates.
- Set your desired temperature and airflow distribution however you like. Your front passenger can set an entirely different temperature, and the system will maintain both.
- When alone, the driver can easily switch off the dual setting and set the whole cabin to a single temperature.
- Almost all climate control functions can be operated by voice commands.
GPS-linked Temperature Control
On models equipped with the Technology Package, the automatic temperature control system is enhanced by a GPS-linked solar sensor9, which enables the system to compensate for the sun’s position when maintaining cabin temperature.
- The GPS link monitors the sun’s intensity and location relative to the vehicle, enabling the system to know if the sun is significantly warming one side of the cabin.
- The system will then increase coolness or reduce heat on that side in order to maintain its designated temperature.
- The system is completely automatic and requires no manual adjustments, regardless of outside conditions.
- 9 Acura Navigation System and related features available in the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. See your local Acura dealer for information regarding navigation system area coverage.
Power Windows & Moonroof
Power windows and moonroof let the outside in at the touch of a button. All of the windows and the moonroof can be opened by the key remote to start cooling the cabin on a hot day before you enter the car.
- The TSX moonroof offers greater airflow flexibility and open-air visibility.
- A finely tuned deflector reduces wind noise when the moonroof is in the open position.
- The windows and moonroof will retain their operational ability 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off or until the front doors are opened.
- When closing, the moonroof and front windows feature an auto-reverse safeguard that automatically stops and re-opens when encountering an obstacle.
Controls & Displays
Instrument Panel Design
The TSX continues Acura’s long-standing reputation of offering instrument panels that combine elegance with functionality.
- Audio, climate and navigation controls extend forward so they are easy to reach.
- High-mounted displays are just a quick glance away from the road.
- The gauge cluster has a sophisticated three-dimensional appearance with floating needles for a quick, concise read.
- All controls, including those on the doors and steering wheel, are illuminated in a soft, white light.
Steering Wheel Controls
A 3-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel provides comfortable, confident road handling. It is also host to a series of easy-to-use system controls.
- The left and right upper spokes contain integrated buttons for the audio and cruise control systems respectively.
- Behind the left and right upper spokes are paddle shifters for Sequential SportShift.
- At the five o’clock positions, you’ll find controls for the Multi-Information Display (MID). On the other side are controls for Bluetooth®11 HandsFreeLink®—and for models with the Acura Navigation System9—the Voice Recognition controls.
- 9 Acura Navigation System and related features available in the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. See your local Acura dealer for information regarding navigation system area coverage.
- 11 The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc., and any use of such marks is under license.
Multi-Information Display
The Multi-Information Display (MID) is located within the speedometer and provides a variety of useful information.
- It includes an odometer, trip meter, ambient temperature, oil-life percentage, and several possible alerts.
- A vehicle graphic displays the location of an unlatched door or a tire with low pressure.
- The Maintenance Minder™ system displays maintenance reminders through the MID on items such as fluid and filter changes, tire rotation, and more.
- Controls at the five o'clock position of the steering wheel make it easy to scroll through the displays.
Voice Recognition
The Voice Recognition feature that accompanies the optional Acura Navigation System9 allows you to perform the most frequently used functions of the audio, climate control, and navigation systems without ever taking your hands off the wheel.
- With a simple click of the “Talk” steering wheel-mounted control, the audio system will instantly mute as you issue one of over 600 voice commands to the audio, climate or navigation systems.
- Some commands can replace multiple manual functions, for example: “CD 3, play song 4”, will turn on the audio system, select the third CD, and play the fourth song.
- You can enter a specific address, as the navigation system will recognize over a million city and street names.
- 9 Acura Navigation System and related features available in the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. See your local Acura dealer for information regarding navigation system area coverage.
Personalized Settings
You can use the Multi-Information Display (MID) to customize several different vehicle functions according to your personal preferences.
- For instance, you can choose if and when you want the doors to automatically lock or how long the interior lights or headlights remain on after the ignition has been turned off.
- The MID will easily guide you through these and other customizable settings via three steering wheel-mounted controls.
Remote Entry
The TSX key remote was given a few extra convenience features beyond the usual door lock, trunk release and panic button functions.
- The remote can lower the windows to air out the cabin as you approach.
- The TSX will read the driver’s seat position and other personalized settings that are linked to the remote and activate those settings the moment the driver’s door is opened.
- The key folds into the remote, making it more compact for carrying.
- If the remote is inside the trunk, you cannot accidentally lock the trunk.
Lighting & Visibility
Rearview Camera
When the transmission is in “Reverse.” you can view obstacles that are behind the TSX and below your normal field of vision through the large, 8-inch navigation screen.
- A camera located discreetly above the rear license plate provides clear visibility for short items, like tricycles or garbage cans.
- The display is also extremely useful when parallel parking.
- The side mirrors also enhance rearward visibility by automatically tilting down when reverse is engaged to reveal any objects close to the side of the car.
HID Headlights
All TSX models are equipped with Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) low-beam headlights for greatly enhanced clarity.
- Xenon lights produce a whiter light that brings out more details than conventional halogen bulbs.
- The HID lenses allow a more precise beam pattern that increases road visibility without blinding oncoming drivers.
Active Sound Control
Active Sound Control
Active sound control is an inventive way to use the audio system to reduce engine noise inside the cabin. Since some engine noise is welcome in a performance vehicle, the system is linked to the throttle position and engine’s rpm to tune the V-6’s sound, based on how it’s being used. The result is remarkably quiet cruising with a satisfying growl upon acceleration.
- Microphones in the cabin detect low-end drivetrain frequencies. The system then creates a reverse-phase audio signal, which is sent to the door speakers and subwoofer to cancel unwanted engine and exhaust noise.
- The system is tuned to deliver a quiet cabin at low rpm, some throaty exhaust tone at mid-rpm, and a crisper exhaust note without high frequency harshness during high rpm.
- The system is always operating even when the audio system is turned off.

Safety & Security
Braking & Stability
Braking Systems
The disc brakes on the TSX are backed up by several sophisticated electronic systems to provide you with the best possible braking under any circumstance.
- The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you retain steering control in emergency braking by preventing the wheels from locking up, while still letting them achieve their maximum level of stopping.
- The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system uses the ABS system to direct braking power among the four wheels, depending on their load, to help optimize braking effectiveness.
- The Brake Assist system detects emergency braking by the driver by monitoring the speed at which the brake pedal is depressed and stepping in to ensure the ABS system is activated. Brake Assist terminates immediately upon release of the brake pedal.
Vehicle Stability Assist
The Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)12 system continually monitors vehicle speed, throttle position, individual wheel speeds, steering angle, lateral G-force, and yaw rate to detect oversteer or understeer.
- When necessary, VSA automatically reduces the engine’s torque and uses the ABS system to apply brakes to each wheel as needed to help stabilize the vehicle.
- The response is so quick that the instability may be corrected before the driver even knows it’s occurring.
- 12 VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Since an under-inflated tire impedes handling and can be a safety hazard, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) uses pressure sensors mounted in each wheel that send readings to a central electronic control unit. The system then evaluates whether the pressure is up to an acceptable range.
- If a reading is approximately 25% below the recommended level, the TSX will alert the driver through the Multi-Information Display (MID) located on the instrument panel.
- The under-inflated tire will be indicated, along with the individual pressure for all four tires.
- The pressure display can be accessed anytime, using the MID controls on the steering wheel.
- As useful as TMPS is, it is still recommended that you manually check your tires on a regular basis.
Body Structure
Advanced Compatibility Engineering
Acura utilizes Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure to enhance occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes.
- The ACE™ design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.
- This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles in a crash.
- Every Acura designed with this system and tested by NHTSA, has received a 5 stars rating on their frontal impact test.
Restraint Systems
Airbag System
The TSX is equipped with a sophisticated 6-airbag system, which includes two front and two front side airbags, as well as two side curtain airbags providing coverage for the front and rear seats. Advanced sensors and inflator systems are designed to enable the airbags to deploy at precisely the right time with the appropriate force.
- The front airbags are equipped with two-stage, multiple-threshold inflators. One or both airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat belt usage and other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.
- Sensors in the front passenger seat determine if it is empty or if the passenger is too small for the passenger’s front airbag to deploy safely, and disengage the front passenger airbag, if necessary.
- The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) uses sensors in the front passenger seatback to determine the height and position of the passenger and will deactivate the side airbag if a child or small-statured adult leans into the side airbag deployment path.
- In a side impact, side curtain airbags deploy downward from just above the doorframes on the impacted side to help protect both front and rear seat outboard occupants.
Seat Belts & Active Head Restraints
All five seating positions in the TSX have 3-point seat belts, and the front belts are equipped with automatic tensioning and load-limiter systems. The driver and front passenger have active head restraints as well.
- In a rear-end collision, a front seat occupant’s body will be pushed against the seatback, and the pressure to the seatback is transmitted from the lumbar plate, pushing the head restraint upward and forward to reduce the gap between the occupant’s head and seat head restraint.
- Impact forces on the head, neck and spine are diminished, helping reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries.
- Automatic tensioning belts react in the first milliseconds of an impact to automatically tighten the belts and help hold a front seat occupant in position against the seatback.
- To help prevent the automatic tensioning belt from causing undue pressure on the chest, load limiters slightly relieve belt tension, as needed, to help soften the force.
Child Safety
Child Safety
The TSX has several features addressing child safety, from sophisticated airbag sensors to anchors that secure child seats.
- The Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) utilizes sensors in the front passenger's seatback to detect if the occupant is a child or small-statured adult. If such an occupant is leaning into the side airbag's deployment path, the side airbag will be deactivated until they resume a safer, more upright position.
- Front windows and the moonroof have an auto-reverse feature that helps prevent them from closing if a finger or other obstacle is encountered.
- LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) anchors plus upper-tether anchors in the rear seat allow LATCH-compatible child seats to be installed in the outboard positions without the use of seat belts.
Security
Security
Like every Acura model, the TSX comes equipped with a security system. In the event of a break-in, the following events will occur:
- The ignition will be disabled.
- The horn will sound.
- The lights will flash.
Ownership & Services
Ownership & Services
Maintenance Minder System
Rather than using a static table of time and mileage to keep track of maintenance, the Maintenance Minder™ system on the TSX calculates service needs based on how the vehicle is driven—not just how long.
- It checks engine operating conditions, such as weather extremes, stop-and-start traffic and frequent short trips.
- It helps coordinate oil service dates and other maintenance check-ups to minimize your trips to the service department.
