2022 Acura RDX vs 2022 Acura MDX
Serving Ridgeland, MS
Throughout Acura’s incredible SUV lineup, you will find several exciting options to consider. The RDX is a small crossover SUV that introduced its third generation in 2019. Sitting above the RDX in the trim lineup is the MDX. The MDX is a midsize crossover SUV that debuts its fourth generation in 2022. You will be thrilled to learn that these top options share many traits, but they also have impressive differences that could sway your model selection. Before you pick out your next SUV from our large selection at Acura of Jackson, what should you know?
The RDX is available in one trim level, and there are five options packages available. All of the options are offered with a four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter engine. This is linked with a 10-speed auto transmission to generate 272 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is included on most trims. However, if you opt for the base RDX trim level or the Technology package, you can upgrade to an all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is standard with the PMC Edition and Advance trim packages.
The MDX is offered with two powertrain options. The base system is a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 10-speed auto transmission. This pairing produces 290 horsepower. The more advanced engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 system with 350 horsepower. This is combined with a sport-tuned adaptive air suspension system and Brembo front brakes. Front-wheel drive is standard for most trims, but top trims have standard all-wheel drive.
Both of these Acura crossovers have sleek, athletic styling with confident accents. The RDX, however, is a smaller vehicle that pairs its pentagon-shaped grille with LED-underscored, geometrically-inspired headlights. Standout molding angles across the lower-side panels for differentiation. The larger MDX crossover also has a pentagon-style grille with edgy headlights. Comparatively, its headlights are longer and thinner than the RDX’s headlights. The hood of the MDX is chiseled, and the roofline has the hint of an arch to allow for a spacious interior. Pinstripe molding runs through the doors, and this is combined with lower-body molding that trends from fender to fender.
The most prominent difference in features between the RDX and the MDX is the MDX’s third row of seating. This extra row is supported by other features, such as a tri-zone climate control system, reclining and sliding seats in the second row, and more USB ports. However, both of these vehicles have desired equipment like a heads-up display, a premium sound system, a wireless hotspot, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and other equipment in select or all trim levels.
