2022 Acura TLX vs 2022 Acura TLX Type S
Serving Ridgeland, MS
For several years, the TLX sedan has been a premium possibility in Acura’s lineup. This small car has developed a well-deserved reputation for incorporating luxurious amenities and advanced technologies into a stylish body style. In 2022, the TLX is offered with five trim levels. These are the base TLX, the Technology, the A-Spec, the Advance, and the Type S. The differences between the base TLX and the TLX Type S are stunning. Exploring these trim levels in detail is a great place to start learning more about this Acura sedan.
Performance
The base TLX and most other trim levels offer exceptional power from a turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. This 272-horsepower system is associated with front-wheel drive and a 10-speed auto transmission. Super-handling all-wheel drive is offered in these trims as an option. The TLX Type S, on the other hand, pairs this same transmission with a 355-horsepower, turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine. Super-handling all-wheel drive, rev-matching, Brembo performance brakes, extra chassis bracing, a Sport+ driving mode, and an adaptive suspension system are standard in the Type S.
Appearance
The TLX is a sleek, aerodynamic sedan with enviable styling across all trims. Both the base and Type S trim levels have a crisply tapered hood and sharp, multi-elemental headlights underscored by a bolt of the LED light. The pentagon-shaped grille and the inverted lower fascia combine to create a hexagonal accent on the nose. The base trim has 18-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and heated side mirrors. The Type S adds a unique grille pattern, 20-inch alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors, aerodynamic accents, LED puddle lights, rain-sensing wipers, and all-season performance tires.
Features
The 2022 Acura TLX is well-appointed at the base trim level. Its features include front USB charging parts, AcuraLink, a wireless internet hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a dual-zone climate control system, faux leather upholstery, a 10-speaker sound system, and a 10.2-inch infotainment system screen. Additional base-level equipment includes:
- A heated steering wheel
- A wireless charging pad
- Remote engine start
- Adaptive cruise control
- A multi-view backup camera
- Lane-keeping assistance
- Lane departure mitigation
- Forward collision mitigation
The Type S adds to these features with a surround-view camera, a 10.5-inch heads-up display, heated front, and rear seats, and other equipment.
